Take command of the powerful Italian Armed Forces in the new Wargame: Red Dragon – Nation Pack: Italy. This expansion pack brings the unique and diverse Forze Armate Italiane to life in Eugen Systems’ popular real-time strategy game. As a key player in any NATO led Mediterranean operation the Italian Armed Forces have a rich military history from their elite Alpine troops to their fast and agile armored units. Italy’s automotive and armament industries have produced iconic vehicles during and after the Cold War, including the AR.76 Campagnola army jeep, the wheeled B1 Centauro, the C1 Ariete main battle tank, the formidable A-129 Mangusta attack helicopter, and the Aermacchi MB-339 light strike aircraft Monster Jam™ Showdown.
In Wargame: Red Dragon, the Italian Armed Forces are now a standalone NATO nation, offering a unique mix of domestic and foreign equipment, both old and new. The Nation Pack: Italy introduces 104 new Italian units, 19 new models, and a variety of new variants, all fully voiced and expertly recreated. This is expansion boasts one of the most up-to-date arsenals in the game.
You can command a wide array of Italian vehicles, such as the AR.76 Campagnola jeep, VCC-1 Camilino APC, the OF-40 main battle tank with its Otomatic SPAAG variant, and the FIROS truck-mounted MRLS. The pack also includes Fiat trucks and APCs, SIDAM 25 SPAAG, SPADA SAM, B1 Centauro wheeled tanks, and the domestic C1 Ariete main battle tank.
The Aeronautica Militare features domestic aircraft like the G.91 Gina, Aermacchi MB-339, and Ghibli close air support planes, alongside upgraded F-104S fighters and several variants of the Panavia Tornado and AV-8B Harrier. The Italian is helicopter fleet includes the A 109 for recon and anti-tank roles as well as various versions of the Huey and Twin Huey helicopters with the A 129 Mangusta leading the charge as a powerful anti-aircraft and anti tank attack helicopter.
On the ground, you’ll lead Fantaria di Linea riflemen, Alpini mountain infantry, Paracadutisti paratroopers, Bersaglieri, Riservisti, and Guastatori. The naval troops include Maro and Lagunari, as well as COMSUBIN and Col Moshin special forces. Italian small arms range from World War II relics to modern weaponry, including the MAB 38/49 SMGs (Beretta M38), BM-59 rifles (Garand), MG-42/59 LMGs, AR-70 and AR-70/90 assault rifles, and various anti-tank weapons like the M20A1 Super Bazooka, RL-100 Blindice, LAW, and APILAS. The Italians also make extensive use of recoilless rifles like the M18 and the domestic Folgore.
