Along the way Vasilisa encounters a range of obstacles that test her combat abilities and household skills alike. She must battle various spirits and mythical lords of natural realms, such as Vodyanoy of the river, Bolotnik of the swamp, and Leshy of the forest, all while overcoming her cruel stepmother. Between these battles, Vasilisa takes on the more humble tasks of washing dishes, doing laundry, tidying Baba Yaga’s hut, and preparing traditional Russian pirogi. Further trials test her attentiveness and agility as she navigates dense fog escapes the forest, and evades the watchful eyes of her mystical foes including Vodyanoy Bolotnik and Leshy.

Rooted in authentic Russian folklore the game presents unadapted tales that bring a blend of horror and cultural richness to the story. The narration is delivered in a South Russian dialect capturing the feel of village storytelling. Adding to the immersive experience the soundtrack is an original composition inspired by folk music from central and southern Russia. A built in encyclopedia further enriches the experience offering details on folk characters, mythical creatures and customs all compiled with guidance from a folklorist.
