Passageway of the Ancients Free Download Overview

Passageway Games, a small studio based in Abilene, Texas, was founded in 2014 by two experienced professionals, Jon Grierson and John Hendrick. These septuagenarians had worked together 30 years earlier on a medical device project, where Hendrick was impressed by Grierson’s work ethic and creativity. Their latest project, Passageway of the Ancients, is inspired by classic CRPGs from the ’90s and early 2000s. The game takes players to the world of Aieryon the galaxy’s last magical planet where they must explore are the city of Ithgar to solve a mysterious crime. Along the way players face challenging combat deadly creatures and must solve puzzles and pick locks to uncover valuable loot. Managing your party and leveling up your character are key elements, with a mix of turn-based and real-time combat inspired by historical weapons and tactics.

A unique feature of the game is the dual-persona system, where players must balance their public-facing race (Dwarf, Elf, or Human) with their hidden identity as a “Dragonkindt” – a powerful being part angelic, part shapeshifter, and part Dragon. This persona taken from Grierson’s unpublished novel The Children of Xi Shei adds an intriguing layer of strategy as players must decide which are identity to use in different situations to succeed.
