When everything seems to be going exactly as planned, it makes you wonder if there’s some invisible string pulling us along, like a puppeteer controlling our fate. In a remote town down south, something truly horrifying happens every 25 years during what locals call “death week”—from August 1 to 7, teenagers mysteriously disappear without a trace. SULFUR

The officials gave up trying to solve the mystery ages ago, just closing the missing persons cases and telling everyone to stay inside and stock up on essentials. But even these precautions haven’t helped; more people go missing each year. The townspeople are left to wonder if a serial killer is behind the disappearances, carrying on a sinister legacy, or if there’s something supernatural—a curse—that’s taking them. The main character John is a senior in high school and an aspiring video blogger who is all about capturing life as it unfolds.

On August 1, 2017, exactly one month before he turns 18, the town faces another “death week.” Most people seem to have moved on from the curse, busy with their own lives, but John’s friend Will has a wild idea: to explore the creepy, abandoned house of an old lady who once terrified everyone in town. As the mystery unfolds the question remains what really lies behind these disappearances? Is John about to uncover the dark truth, or is he stepping right into the jaws of the curse?
